這幾天 Mandriva 釋出了 2010 Aplpha 1 版本,雖然這個版本仍舊是工程測試版,使用起來的穩定性也還不足,不過光看到 2010 這個代號就代表著,更新速度之快,或許 Mandriva Linux 2010 正式版不見得會是如預期般的 schedule 剛好在 2009/10 釋出,不過就算延到 2010 年也應該不至於會讓人說話,好歹光看到這個 2010 就會讓人覺得好像明年快到了,似乎又是讓人期待的一年…
FoxTab 是 firefox 擴充套件之一,它的功能在於能使用 3D 方式呈現您所有的分頁,好讓您在選取分頁時更快速更能有 3D 視覺享受,而且重點是它提供的功能不只有如 Vista 般的 3D 型態,還有其餘分頁瀏覽方式,使人覺得這個 extension 不但美觀又好用… (more…)
可能對於已經在使用這個 plugin 的人來說新的版本感覺變化不大,不過對於未使用過的人應該會覺得整齊也方便操作~
特別是由於 Wordpress 版本的更新也讓這個 plugin 一直更新,以便能針對幾個新功能使用,至於幾個 features 在官方網站有詳細介紹,在這裡就不對它的功能加以詳述了,只將此 plugin 的設定頁面截取出來給大家參考
其中對我比較有用的大概是第二項功能的設定(Shrink top level links down to their icons),這個功能會呈現如下圖的狀況,有文字解釋或無文字解釋,一般來說,當然有文字大家比較看得懂,不過要是對於安裝許多 plugin 的人來說可就不需要那麼多文字了,要不然整個 toolbar 都會變得醜醜的…
我想有在使用 MAC OS 的人應該大多數的 BT 軟體都是用 Transmission 吧!
因為這套 BT client 可以支援不同的作業系統,所以一直都有一定的使用者持續使用它,不像其他多數 BT client 不是只能 for Windows 要不就是只能 for Linux,不過在 1.70版同時有多線程時會佔用高 CPU 的 Bug 讓人頭痛不已,當然還有 DHT 這部分的 Bug 都一起在 1.71 版本中修正了,還有修正一些針對 Daemon, GTK+, Web Client 的問題,尤其是 Web Client 問題的修正讓人感覺舒服多了,要不然每次下載都會同時顯示兩個重複的種子還真讓人看不懂到底會不會有問題,下面就是官方網站所提供的 release note,想要更新的人先看一下吧~~

Fedora 算是 Red Hat 組織的 free linux 代表作,雖然這套 Linux 作業系統稱不上是非常穩定,不過卻也成為目前 linux distribution 幾個主流之一,它的存在也能激勵其餘這幾套主流產品的改進 Ubuntu, OpenSUSE, Mint…,然而這陣子 Red Hat 組織又釋出新的 Fedora 版本 11,我想最讓我關注的應該就是 Ext4 檔案系統,以及本身這套 Fedora 11 的穩定性,雖然 Red Hat 另外的產品線 Red Hat Enterprise Linux 穩定性足夠,不過由於是針對企業使用,故 RHEL 是套要收費的軟體,而維持 RHEL 穩定性的主要因素也是在於使用舊版穩定的 packages,而非如當今主流 Linux 都在追求新功能新套件.
從以前使用 Fedora 6~9 的經驗,讓我有點難以確認 Fedora 11 是否好用,因為不穩定的狀況似乎一直都存在著,不過由於剛好此版本有幾個新的 features,還是會吸引我想去使用它,它的新特性如下:
Some other features in this release include:
* Ext4 filesystem – The ext3 file system has remained the mature standard in Linux for a long time. The ext4 file system is a major update that has an improved design, even better performance and reliability, support for much larger storage, and very fast file system checks and file deletions. It is now the default filesystem for new installations.
* Virt Improved Console – In Fedora 10 and earlier the virtual guest console is limited to a screen resolution of 800×600. In Fedora 11 the goal is to have the screen default to at least 1024×768 resolution out of the box. New installations of F11 provide the ability to use other interface devices in the virtual guest, such as a USB tablet, which the guest will automatically detect and configure. Among the results is a mouse pointer that tracks the local client pointer one-for-one, and providing expanded capabilities.
* MinGW (Windows cross compiler) – Fedora 11 provides MinGW, a development environment for Fedora users who wish to cross-compile their programs to run on Windows without having to use Windows. In the past developers have had to port and compile all of the libraries and tools they have needed, and this huge effort has happened independently many times over. MinGW eliminates duplication of work for application developers by providing a range of libraries and development tools already ported to the cross-compiler environment. Developers don’t have to recompile the application stack themselves, but can concentrate just on the changes needed to their own application.
